Note for Brides: If you have never been spray tanned at Golden Glow, We strongly recommend you do a trial run tan before your wedding tan.
Preparation of your skin is crucial for how your tan will develop, the duration and fade. Starting this process AT LEAST 24 hours prior is KEY!
48 hours before if you still have old tan to remove.
1. *DO NOT do these steps directly before your tanning session* (Must be the day before) In the shower, shave legs, underarms, etc. and exfoliate the skin afterward with an exfoliating mitt or Coffee Scrub (both sold at Golden Glow) . Avoid DOVE soap it may leave a residue which interferes with the development of tanning solutions. If you wish to have your face sprayed and use Retinol, discontinue use 2 days prior.
2. After your prep shower, do not apply deodorant, lotions, oils or perfumed products after your shower. If you wish to wear deodorant (not spray cans or dove brand) the day of your appointment, please consult your spray tan tech about removing it before your session. (even though it will be wiped off, we can not assure you the tan will develop properly in those areas)
3. Clients under the age of 18 must have parental consent (printable forms are in the privacy policy section and/or can be completed during booking online), and must wear top and bottom undergarments (unless legal guardian is present during service). Pregnant clients must be past their first trimester, have doctors written consent and wear FDA recommendations provided by Golden Glow.
Golden Glow provides many disposable options for you to wear during your tanning sessions. These are not required but always available.
4. Wear/Bring dark, loose clothing, and sandals to wear after your session. Anything tight or restrictive will damage your developing tan. (Ex: leggings, jeans, socks, bras)
5. For best results, schedule mani/pedis and hair at least 24 hours before your tan. Schedule massages, waxing and facials 48 hours before. Note: if you are going through hormonal changes with medications or menstrual cycle your spray tan end results have the possibility of being lighter than desired.
6. Never schedule a sunless spray tan if you are currently sunburnt or your skin is peeling. Note: your skin is still healing after 3 weeks of a moderate sunburn.
7. If you have received a classic tan, you must wait at least 8 hours before showering or sweating. If chosen rapid, you will be given instructions on when to shower between 1-4 hours, depending on darkness of tan.
8. Spray tans can last up to 5-10 days depending on hydration, exfoliation and individual body chemistry. Avoiding activities that cause your skin to exfoliate faster and using the correct products on your tan will help you achieve a 10 day tan. All tan safe products are sold at Golden Glow.
9. To help maintain and prolong your sunless tan, ask your spray tan tech about tan safe lotions, soaps, body butters, self tanners and tan extenders. Before leaving your appointment, we will provide you with all tips and tricks for a successful spray tan!
10. Sunless spray tans do NOT protect you from UV sun rays, please continue to wear sunscreen. Tan safe options are SunBum, COOLA or Supergoop (lotion NOT spray)
